Mother’s Day at Alowyn Gardens

The weather may be cool but our coffee is hot and we would love to see you. We are spoiling all mothers with free entry and coffee. .

The gardens are looking lovely in the late Autumn with:

• lots of Autumn roses in bloom,

• ornamental grasses,

• colourful perennials

• the amazing hanging gourd garden and
• the new pole and rock sculpture

Seasonal fruits and vegetables available: persimmons, apples, pumpkins, artichokes and more.

We are hoping to see lots of mothers and their families before we close at the end of May for the Winter.

From the 11th- 14th March, the Yarra Glen Arts Show provides a fantastic opportunity for local artists to present their work in the stunning backdrop of Alowyn Gardens.  The exhibition will be held in a large marquee in the ‘Maple Courtyard’, adjacent to the Main Gardens.

On top of that, 2011 heralds in a new era for this much loved arts show with the combined efforts of The Artisans Revolutionary Company, bringing in ware for the body, home and garden. The Yarra Glen Artshow Artisan Marketplace will be on show during the length of the Yarra Glen Artshow.

With an expected collection of over 500 works by over 150 artists, the showcase expects to be an inspiring day out for the estimated 3000 people that will visit the event.

This year the raecemes are longer than we have ever seen them before – up to 1 metre.

Come and enjoy the sights, perfumes and unique experience.

After an extraordinary year in 2009, Yarra Valley Open Studios is back for 2010 bigger and better than ever. 70 Artists are opening up their secret working spaces in the Yarra Valley in September 2010. This is a once-a-year opportunity to see artists in their private studio workspaces is a unique chance to get an intimate insight into the creative mind and process of some extraordinary artists. Be amazed by world renowned artists, and inspired by people who make art their lives.

Alowyn Gardens hosts these two groups in 2010 whilst the Yarra Ranges Council conducts an upgrade of the community hall which they usually call home.

Alowyn Gardens (03) 9730 2400 1210 Melba Highway, Yarra Glen (Mel. Ref: 267 G9) is an official  food stop for the weekend. Coffee, tea, cool drinks and cakes will be available in a gorgeous garden setting.
